A tick-tock mechanical wind-up clock. As had been previously mentioned a lot on vintage items, no batteries! It runs on wind-up. This particular one is of Japanese origin (note the "Takeda" name) and like many vintage items the manufacturers fail to stamp the date of manufacture. So, I have no ideas of how old exactly it is short of carbon dating it, but I'd guesstimate it to be at least 60 years. Made entirely out of wood and metal. No plastics (pre 1960s) and no batteries!

Note also the "Super Deluxe 31 Days" label but there's no date on the clock! Ah, quirky.

1957 National Geographic. One of my prized possessions, this 1957 National Geographic is like opening up a magazine looking back into history. There were color pictures in 1957! 1957 is also a year that the Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was set in! So there you go, one more reference to Indy4 on my collection.

Very fun to see the 1957 advertisements for cars, fridges, razors and the like in there. Things we took granted for nowadays were advertised almost as if they were miracle products.

Clamshell alarm clocks. One is B.W. from Japan, the German Europa one had "2 Jewel" movement. Probably of recent vintage like late 60s or early 70s, b.q. (Before Quartz). No batteries!

These clamshell alarm clocks were pretty useful for travel back then before cellular phones came about with alarm features. No batteries to fuss about, and closes up into a slim form that fits into the pockets and travel bags. If the wind-up ticking ever drives you crazy, just close it up. :)

1974 Malaysian 5 Ringgit coin. Bet a lot of you have never seen these ones.

1927 Straits Settlement 20 cent coins.
