Koi

We have a Koi pond (if you can call it a pond) that has some Koi in it.

I took some photo samples for record purposes and to find out what kind of species they are by sending them to a biologist friend in Sepang.

It turns out that the Koi is a local species, not the "original" Japanese species - ie. not highly sought after and therefore, not very valuable either.

The above are the best looking ones so far.


This one seemed deformed. Not only that, it kept getting caught multiple times when we tried to get others. Dumb fish.

Note the lack of pelvic fin. Definitely a sign of some sort of defect(?)

There are more other than the above ones, but they're fairly good at avoiding getting caught. A few photos is enough to determine the species for now.
